The Illinois Theatre located on South Locust
in downtown Centralia, Illinois, is currently under renovation
and will have approximately
500 seats available for professional entertainment performances.
Ticket prices will be $30 per show, (Groups prices available)
with shows presented on Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, and
Saturday evening. The
Illinois Theater will be bringing in acts starting in late February,
2008 as fundraisers to
support the renovation of the Illinois Theater. A venue for these
shows is to be announced. |
This former vaudeville & movie theatre
is currently undergoing an $800,000 renovation. All new seating,
air conditioning, handicapped
restrooms, lighting & sound system will be part of the
renovation of this grand, deco-style building. The Illinois Theatre

Some Historical Facts about the Illinois Theatre
- First opened in 1922 as a Vaudeville Theatre.
- First movie house in town to show “Talkies” in
1929.
- Operated as a movie theatre until 2001.
Kerasotes donated theatre to city in 2005.
- Not-for-profit organization incorporated to operate theatre
in 2006.
- Renovation began in late August, 2007.
